The Australia- Viet Nam Connection

Dr. Robert Weller, Clinical Services Director of the Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre
visited the Bach Mai Hospital's Rehabilitation Department in Hanoi, under the auspices of the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation.

Dr. Weller was joined by  Anne Szysz RN and met with staff at Bach Mai and  the National Paediatric Institute, as well as with the relevant Ministry officials responsible for rehabilitation, all with the aim of establishing training links between the Centers. A  senior orthotist from Royal Talbot stayed at Bach Mai for six months of this year, assisting with training of staff. This was followed by visits to Melbourne by Profs Nguyen Xuan Nghien (Head of Rehabilitation) and Cao Minh Chau in November/early December; Prof Chau attended the ISCOS meeting in Perth, and both attended the regional ISPO meeting, as well as spending time in the unit and discussing possible lecture programmes and staff exchanges
